Copernicus Info Day at Elementary School “Jovan Popovic”, Novi Sad
The Laboratory of Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Technical Sciences Novi Sad as a member of the Copernicus Academy program maintains a series of educational and promotional presentations and workshops in order to bring new technologies and satellite data to different categories of users. We believe it is very important that new generations of pupils and graduates have appropriate knowledge about Copernicus and all other space data services.
As part of these activities, on May 28 2019, we had the honor and pleasure to hold an educational lecture and an interactive workshop on the topic of the Copernicus Academy program at Jovan Popovic Elementary School in Novi Sad. The program aims to timely provide information on the Copernicus program, raise awareness about application of its services and empower children’s interest in the field of Earth observation and geoinformatics.
Within the one-hour program, we presented the Copernicus program, enabled interactive participation in the image processing, as well as the age-appropriate active discussion. Pupils were very interested in participating, and the results of the survey show the lecture and workshop left good impressions among them.
Copernicus Sentinel application was a huge success! Great interest in the Copernicus Sentinel application has shown that mobile phones and the Internet have great contribution to traditional teaching. It has proven practical application of smartphones in learning, the so-called mobile learning.
The pupils answered diligently to all the questions from the survey and we are proud of our teachers who were rated with highest marks.
