GEOBIZ is the European Union Erasmus+ Key action 2 funded project gathering 23 university and business partners from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Moldova, Montenegro Belgium, Croatia, Germany and Serbia. The project was launched on November 15th, 2019, and will be implemented over 36 months.
Erasmus+ program
Erasmus+ is the EU’s programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its budget of €14.7 billion will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, and gain experience abroad. Project objectives
The main objective of the GEOBIZ project is to strengthen the capacity of academic institutions better to respond on the needs of the emerging geoinformatics industry in involved partner countries focusing on the following aspects:
- establishment of new and innovative forms of business-academia cooperation to support interaction in teaching/learning processes in geoinformatics,
- setting up business-academia platform supporting excellence in geoinformatics,
- development of innovative programs for teacher training, practical teaching/learning methodologies and content of technology-based courses in geoinformatics taking into account the requirements of the geoinformatics businesses,
- implementation of the state-of-the-art techniques in the process of teaching technology-driven courses in geoinformatics.
GEOBIZ expected results
Project planned activities and the expected results for target groups are:
- HEI students – modern and on real business-driven problem-based cases designed geoinformatics courses will be implemented,
- HEI teachers – more than 50 teachers will undercome advanced geoinformatics training and education in specific geoinformatics topics. Purchased equipment will allow teachers to implement designed courses,
- HEI’s providing geoinformatics (and related) studies – will strengthen their internal capacities and gain the higher attraction of the scholars for inscription in geoinformatics and related study programmes,
- Geoinformatics companies – will improve cooperation with the academic sector and influence HEI’s curriculum design,
- Geoinformatics and related professionals – the bidirectional communication, supported from side of governmental and public institutions, will foster the growth of geoinformatics and related sectors,
- Governmental authorities, public administration and agencies – will enable delivering geoinformatics products and services in a higher quality for society.
