Copernicus Info Day at Technical School “Mileva Maric-Ajnstajn”, Novi Sad
The Laboratory of Geoinformatics of the Faculty of Technical Sciences Novi Sad as a member of the Copernicus Academy program maintains a series of educational and promotional presentations and workshops in order to bring new technologies and satellite data to different categories of users. The program aims to timely provide information on the Copernicus program, raise awareness about application of its services and empower children’s interest in the field of Earth observation and geoinformatics.
As part of these activities, on June 13 2019, we had the honor and pleasure to hold an educational lecture and an interactive workshop on the topic of the Copernicus Academy program at Technical School “Mileva Maric-Ajnsajn” in Novi Sad.
Within the one-hour program, we presented the Copernicus program, enabled interactive participation in the image processing, as well as the age-appropriate active discussion. Pupils were very interested in participating, and the results of the survey show the lecture and workshop left good impressions among them. Great interest in the Copernicus Sentinel application has shown that mobile phones and the Internet have great contribution to traditional teaching. It has proven practical application of smartphones in learning, the so-called mobile learning.
Third grade pupils had the opportunity to meet ESA’s Copernicus Programme and satelite imagery trough interactive learning and were given information on their further education in this area. At the end of the presentation pupils took part in a survey, where they responded to questions about the presentation and Copernicus.
